Associate Professor Colin Higgins

Chair

Colin is an Associate Professor and MBA Director of Deakin Business School and has taught strategy and corporate responsibility for over 20 years.

Prior to emigrating to Australia, Colin had experience in the community and not-for-profit sector in New Zealand – including as Board Member of the Mature Employment Support Agency and the Treasurer of the Manawatu Tenants Union.

Jeanette Furmedge

Deputy Chair

Jeanette has been actively involved with Knoxbrooke since 1974 and a member of the Board since 1985.  Jeanette held the position of President in 1988 and 1989. Jeanette is a qualified Sports and Remedial Therapist and works part-time.

Murray brings to Knoxbrooke over 50 years’ experience in financial management and law having specialised in superannuation.

Ray Hollis

Ray has had a long career in the distribution and transport industry as a driver, owner driver and as a base radio operator. Prior to this long career in distribution and transport, Ray managed a hardware store for 6 years.

Alan Soderlund

Board member - Knoxbrooke Enterprises

Alan’s background is in the horticultural industry, including Production, Marketing, and Sales.

Alan was a founding partner in Australia’s largest wholesale plant market, operating in three states.  He was a director of the Victorian nursery association for many years.

Michael Briggs

Board member

Michael brings to Knoxbrooke over 20 years experience in large corporates in strategy, customer, marketing, sales and M&A roles, both in Australia and the UK.

Michael also has prior not-for-profit governance experience, previously holding Board and Finance Committee positions in the aged care sector.

Robyn Healy

Board member

Robyn brings Knoxbrooke over 20 years of experience in IT and transformation projects. Primarily her roles are in change management and business transformation.

Katherine Boicuic

Board member

Katherine is a Director at Maximus International and is recognised as one of Australia’s 29 Inspirational Women making waves in STEM. She has been an advocate and global keynote speaker on diversity in technology and women in tech for over a decade.

Katherine has held senior and influential roles focused on global impact and world technology enablement.

Lyn Shalless

Board member

, Governance

Lyn is the Chief Financial Officer of Trinity College, and a member of the senior management team. Ms Shalless has over 25 years senior management experience in the corporate sector for both private and ASX listed entities. These roles included responsibility for management of risk, internal audit, multinational tax, investor relations and corporate finance.

Ms Shalless has also acted as probity advisor to various Victorian government departments on major infrastructure procurement projects.

Paul De Stefanis

Board member - Knoxbrooke Enterprises

Paul has extensive corporate knowledge and financial experience in the Not For Profit sector with over 15 years in the community services industry.

Prior to this, Paul worked in a commercial environment in various accounting roles in the manufacturing sector, principally in the food & beverage industry.

Paul currently serves as the Finance Manager at Circus Nexus Inc. – a Not For Profit organization in the Physical & Performing Arts sector.  

 In his spare time, Paul enjoys running, cycling, gardening, travel and watching Collingwood play football at the MCG.

Kristian Dauncey

Group CEO

Kristian joined Knoxbrooke in January 2016. Kristian brings extensive community services expertise having worked within the sector since 2003. Prior to this, Kristian worked within a commercial environment both within Australia and overseas.

Kristian is passionate about ensuring that people with disabilities have the same opportunities and privileges as all others. Kristian enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, recreational cycling and swimming.

Scott Buckland

CEO of Knoxbrooke Enterprises

Scott joined Knoxbrooke in March 2016 as General Manager of Knoxbrooke’s Social Enterprises which includes Yarra View Bushland Flora Nursery, Knoxbrooke Outsource, Waratah Gardening Services, and Jigsaw Industries. Scott has over 20 years commercial management experience gained across various industries including Horticulture, Apparel, Printing and Construction.

In his spare time Scott enjoys playing competition tennis, all water sports, gardening and spending time with his wife and four children.

Gai Campbell

Outer East Regional Manager

Gai was a practising lawyer for almost 30 years before becoming a Family & Child mediator in 2005. Since that time Gai has continued to work in management in the not for profit sector largely for Relationships Australia.

Gai also worked for Lifeline, delivering 600 accredited workshops Australia wide every year raising awareness of family violence.

Gai is keen to contribute to the work of Knoxbrooke in the community and meeting and supporting it’s families. Gai is responsible for 365 and Achieve by Knoxbrooke

Janelle Ghent

Manager People and Culture

Janelle brings to Knoxbrooke over 20 years of HR experience. Most recently working within Aged Care, Janelle has developed a strong interest in supporting this sector in the not for profit space. With formal qualifications in Adult Education, Janelle is passionate about coaching and mentoring both business leaders and employees. Janelle is a keen member of a women’s walking group, and enjoys Pilates and crafts.

Claire Cutler

Regional Manager - West Gippsland

Claire joined Knoxbrooke in March 2020 as Regional Manager of West Gippsland. Claire lives in Warragul and is very passionate about the disability sector, and has over 15 years people management experience gained across various industries including federal government & private industry.

Claire is responsible for Mawarra Day Services, Mawarra Op Shop and sorting centre and our West Gippsland social enterprises Waratah Gardening and Jigsaw Industries.

In her spare time Claire enjoys NRL, travel, camping and spending time with her husband, four children and her dog.

Fiona Sammut

Manager Support Options

Fiona’s role encompasses managing the NDIS team at Knoxbrooke who primarily work with families to implement supports provided at Knoxbrooke and prepare service agreements. 

Fiona has worked in the disability sector for 5 years in finance and NDIS management.  Prior to entering the disability sector her experience was in financial management and accounting positions.

Trevor Norman

Financial Controller

Prior to joining the Knoxbrooke team Trevor was the Regional Head of Combe Asia-Pacific. He has also performed financial roles at Mentholatum Australasia, and Price Waterhouse where he worked in their Corporate Services team. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Majoring in Accounting) and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He has also devoted the last 13 years as members of various not-for-profit Boards.
