Getting started
Knoxbrooke supports adults with disability through a range of services including Supported Employment, School Leaver Program’s, Living 1:1 Support, Group Leisure activities and Group-based capacity building programs.
Our services help people build independence, develop skills, access their community, explore employment opportunities, and achieve their personal goals. We operate across Outer East Melbourne and West Gippsland.
Our Intake and Support Options Team will guide you through the intake process, gather information about your goals and support needs, explain suitable service options, and help you understand the NDIS funding required.
We’ll work with you to make the transition into your chosen service as smooth and straightforward as possible.
We will work with you to develop a ‘Transition into Service Plan’ designed to help you feel comfortable and ready to commence.
During your first few weeks, you’ll get to know the staff, participants, routines, and activities while settling in at a pace that suits you.
Our focus is on making the transition smooth, supportive, and enjoyable so you can build confidence and get the most out of the service.
We will work with you to discuss the days, times, and supports that best meet your needs and goals. Living Support (1:1 support) is generally flexible and can often be adjusted as your needs change.
Supported Employment and Group Programs operate on more structured schedules with set attendance days and times. We regularly review supports to ensure they continue to meet your goals and circumstances.
We measure success by the progress you make towards your individual goals and aspirations.
Our team records and reports on the supports delivered and the outcomes achieved, helping demonstrate your progress to the NDIS while identifying opportunities for continued growth.
Most importantly, we celebrate your achievements along the way and support you to keep working towards what’s important to you.
Understanding NDIS Funding
Core funding supports your daily needs and covers everyday disability supports, such as:
- Personal care
- Community access
- Supports in employment
- Support workers.
Capacity Building funding focuses on helping you achieve your long-term goals, and develop skills and independence through supports like:
- Therapy
- Employment assistance
- Life skills training.

Choosing a registered NDIS provider offers additional peace of mind because registered providers must meet strict quality and safety standards, undergo regular audits, and maintain systems that protect participant rights and wellbeing.

Knoxbrooke’ s Intake and Support Options Team will work with you to understand your goals and explore the best ways to use your funding.
This may include identifying community or mainstream services, such as alternative transport options, that can help reduce pressure on your NDIS budget.
Our focus is on helping you maximise your funding, make informed choices, and achieve the best possible outcomes from your plan.
The funding required for the School Leaver Program is currently changing. One option to fund the program is School Leavers Employment Support (SLES) funding, or ‘Capacity Building Finding and Keeping a Job’ funding.
SLES funding is expected to be phased out from July 2027. Many participants currently accessing Knoxbrooke’ s School Leaver program are using their Core funding.

Yes. Many participants access Knoxbrooke’ s School Leaver Program using their NDIS Core funding. The suitability of Core funding will depend on your individual plan and available budget. Our Intake and Support Options Team can review your funding and help you understand the options available to access the supports you need.
School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) is to fund young people’s transition from school to employment. At Knoxbrooke, our School Leaver Program can be funded with SLES funding.
The funding you need depends on the service you are accessing. Most Knoxbrooke services are funded through NDIS Core Supports, while School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) and some employment-related training may be funded through Capacity Building supports.
Our Intake and Support Options Team can help you understand your funding, identify the most appropriate supports, and explore the options available within your NDIS plan.
Our Intake and Support Options Team can review your current NDIS plan and determine what level of support may be available within your existing funding.
If additional funding is needed, we can help you understand the evidence and documentation that may support a request to the NDIS for increased funding.
